Everything you need to know about Slatmill dog running with Mickey's. Still curious? Call us at (253) 720-7520 any time.
A Slatmill is a non-powered treadmill specifically designed for dogs! Since it's self-powered, your dog gets to decide how fast they want to go. They are harnessed in and secure the whole time, and we run them inside a climate-controlled van so it's dry and comfortable no matter the weather.
Your dog isn't restricted at all — they can go as fast as they want! Many have a burst of zoomies in the beginning and are totally exhausted by the end. Imagine how long you'd have to throw the ball to get that kind of energy out! Not to mention it's safe, secure, dry, climate-controlled, and great for reactive or anxious dogs.
Absolutely. As dogs age their joints become less stabilized. After working with them, their joints become stronger and they'll walk with more confidence and pep in their step! We'll slow the slats and keep senior sessions a little shorter as needed.
We're open Monday–Friday, 8AM–6PM, and will take special requests for Sunday if needed! We service most of Pierce County and are stationed in Sumner, WA. Not sure if we can reach you? Just call (253) 720-7520 and ask.
We're there to monitor your dog's safety and customize each run for their needs. Your dog controls the speed of our self-propelled Slatmill and we encourage them to move — they do the work. Think of it as a fun run. Feel free to bring your dog's favorite toy, and you're welcome to help or watch the entire time. We'll stop your dog for water as needed.
Expect a tired pup — they may be pancaked out on the floor! Wait until they're relaxed and calmed down before their next feeding. Some dogs get extra zoomies afterward from a good dose of endorphins. For older dogs, a gentle massage of the hind legs helps prevent soreness. Ready for more? Email or call us to schedule your next appointment.
Every dog has their own learning curve, but most learn within the first 5–10 minutes! We take our time in the beginning since you never know how they'll react — but it's typically pawsitive. We give lots of encouragement and treats (we have multiple options, so just let us know about any dietary restrictions).
Yes! There are no breed restrictions and reactive dogs are welcome. We have 2 Slatmills to work with and move at each dog's pace in a calm, controlled, one-on-one setting — often a great fit for dogs who struggle in busier environments. Dogs must be at least 4 months old and fully vaccinated.
We do! Refer 5 people who each book at least one run and you'll get a $50 gift certificate — just have them email us saying you sent them. We also offer a 10% discount for all Veterans, EMS, Teachers and Firefighters.
